Navigating the Zoning DepartmentThis home had been in the family since the Sixties. During the 1970s the family built a permitted addition. Records showed that the addition was signed off by an inspector at the completion of the project. Investigations at the time of purchase suggested that the plans on file did not match the existing footprint creating a potential zoning violation. Extensive investigation of the addition structure and framing made it clear that changes were made on site at the time of construction and must have been approved onsite at the final inspection. The building department agreed eliminating the risk of zoning violations.
